COVID-19: Enugu issues further guidelines


In a bid to prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus that is incessantly taking shape in numbers in Nigeria, the Enugu State Ministry of Health has issued further guidelines to ensure safety of the people of Enugu State.

A statement signed by the Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu, has indicated the concerned of the Ministry and the Government of Enugu over the wellbeing of their citizens and residents as the world fight the yet-to-end ghost war of COVID-19.

As was released by the Enugu State Ministry of Information on their Social handle, the statement reads:

Enugu COVID-19 Announcement

The Enugu State Ministry of Health further recommends the following to the good people of the state as part of the precautionary measures to contain Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19):

1. Stay at home as much as you can.

2. Use a clean cloth mask daily if you have to go out.

3. Do not touch the front of the mask while wearing it.

4. Remove your mask only from both ears at the same time.

5. Wash your hands after removing the mask.

6. Wash your cloth mask, dry and iron it everyday.

7. Maintain respiratory hygiene when you have to cough or sneeze.

8. Maintain social/physical distancing protocol always.

9. Wash your hands as often as you can with soap and running water.

10. When you can't wash your hands use an alcohol based hand sanitizer frequently.

Enugu State is in the hands of God! 

The public announcement is in addition to the tireless efforts of the amiable Governor of Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in Enugu State.

The Governor has recently charged the Security operatives in Enugu State to enforce a total restriction of interstate tranportation (except those on essential duties) across the boundaries of Enugu State, as among the precautionary measures to contain the spread of the Coronavirus in the State.

Governor Ugwuanyi previously responded at the unfolding of the COVID-19 pandemic in the State by releasing funds to ensure a vigoros fight against the Virus in the State, activation of 3 Isolation Centers in Enugu and Nsukka, facilitation of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Colliery Hospital which would be dedicated as an Infectious Disease Isolation and Treatment Center in the State, closure of all educational Institutions and markets, decontamination and fumigation of the State, commencement of Daily School Classes on Radio for Primary and Secondary School students in Enugu which is conducted 5-6 pm every week from 14th-28th April for Secondary School Students and, 11am-noon from 21st April to 5th May for Primary School pupils and specially aired on Radio Nigeria Enugu, and the Social handle @Enugu Radio School. 

Also are the  limitation of the operation time of  'Keke Riders' to 6am-7pm daily, enforcement of  the reduction of passengers on transits, ensuring the sensitization of the good people of Enugu State, among others.
