Tough decision awaits N-power Volunteers after May Stipend

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk, has announced that she has paid the April monthly Stipends of the beneficiaries of the N-power program as announced last week.

The Minister noted that the delay in payment was as a result of the malfunction of the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) platform which has been rectified and payments made to the beneficiaries.
We encountered some delays on the GIFMIS platform but I can now announce that all N-Power beneficiaries from Batch A and B have been paid their April stipends.
We are working hard to streamline the programme for greater efficiency and to provide opportunities for more Nigerian youths. Details will be provided as soon as May stipend has been paid.

Hajiya Sadiya furthered that while the program was inaugurated in 2016 to last for 24 months, and was designed to empower about 1 million Nigerians  through capacity building, investment and direct supports for each batch, the Batch A are denying other Nigerians the opportunity to be empowered having spent over 40 months in the program.

In several speeches, the Minister had restated her intention of reforming the program and engaging a new set of 400,000 beneficiaries of the program to be recruited in due time.
