Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has been disqualified from contesting in the forth coming All Progressive Congress (APC) primary election in Edo State following discrepancies in his educational qualification and his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Certificate.
The decision was made today by the All Progressive Congress (APC) screening committee inaugurated on Wednesday by the National Chairman of the Party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Others whose candidacies were disqualified were Engr Chris Ogiemwonyi and Mattew Iduoriyekwemwe.
The screening Committee however upheld the candidacy of Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu, Dr. Pius Odubu and Hon. Osaro Obazee who have been cleared by the party to contest in the election.
Reacting to the outcome of the screening, Gov. Obaseki noted that he was not expecting a free and fair screening since Comrade Oshiomhole is at the helm of the electoral activities in the party.
Gov. Obaseki emphasised that the embattled certificate was obtained from the University of Ibadan which he has always held with him.
