Enugu State Government launches Affordable, Fast and Secure WiFi called Enugu Wifi

The Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration has launched a low cost WiFi Network, Enugu WiFi, aimed at meeting the data need of the good people of Enugu State especially to ease doing businesses by the Small and Medium Enterprise owners in Enugu State.

Enugu WIFI project is a Municipal Wireless Network, offered by independent Data Resellers deployed in Enugu State, Nigeria. It is a low-cost paid Secure Wi-Fi connection sponsered by Enugu State Government through the Enugu SME Center at various locations within the state, known as Wi-Fi Zones.

Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, Special Adviser, SME Development and Investment Promotion Head, Enugu SME Center and Focal Person, Ease of Doing Business, describing the project noted that Enugu WiFi will not only meet the need of internet data to Enugu people at a low cost, but will also serve an empowerment to youths which would enable them generate a source of income by partnering the project.

We cannot underestimate the importance of internet access in our daily activities, especially for small businesses. It is an enabler in modern society and the efforts of the administration in providing affordable Wi-Fi is to make the State work for all and sundry. 

The Enugu SME Centre is undertaking a project to provide affordable wifi across the state as part of our Youth Empowerment Scheme for Enugu state, powered by Enugu State Government. Through this project, youths are empowered with tools to help them generate additional sources of income by reselling internet data at affordable rates. Also, this technology used is developed locally and we are committed to supporting startups and SMEs within the State.

The project which has seen the roll out of the first batch of the data agents in Enugu is a simple to connect system involving locating an agent WiFi Zone, connecting wirelessly through an encrypted connection procedure which displays data usuage, enjoying a fixed rate for all web pages at a very low and affordable cost.

Governor Ugwuanyi being a lover of Technology and a supporter of Small and Meduim Enterprises has created many enabling environments for the youths in Enugu State through numerous empowerment programs.
