The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has expressed shock over the sudden disengagement of the N-power Teachers in the State by the Federal Government.
The Chairman of NUT in the State, Mr Titilayo Adebanjo, has appealed for the reabsorption of the N-power Teachers as allowing the trained teachers to leave, would create a huge shortage of teachers in the State.
Mr. Adebanjo in an interview with news men in Abeokuta also appealed to the state Government to consider the N-power Teachers in the 1,500 teachers recruitment in the State by the administration Governor Dapo Abiodum.
The Ogun State NUT Chairman emphasized that the Union never expected that the Federal Government would disengage the N-power Teacher other than absorbing them into the Public Service.
Mr Adebanjo while speaking in the interest of the NUT in Ogun State state:
We appeal to State Government to come to the aid of the innocent youths and engage them into the State Services.
The N-power Teachers did amazing jobs. Honestly, our prayers to Ogun State Government is to make sure that all of them are considered in the ongoing recruitment. They are good teachers. They are fresh blood, they are good at their job.
The NUT Chairman noted that the last teachers recruitment in the State was conducted in 2009 before the present Administration began the process of recruiting the 1,500 teachers which is ongoing.
