It is an issue of national interest, the agitation of Npower youth beneficiaries and the non-parental pattern of handling the situation by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
I have been watching and investigating the plight of the N-power beneficiaries since it's transfer to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development headed by Sadiya Umar Farouk and her team because I have very many of them around me.
Being a member of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the South East, I vehemently condemn the strategy of using the media to attack and deeply inflame the angered N-power beneficiaries who have dedicated their years in service in Nigeria with good conducts and commendable impacts in their places of assignment.
I was geared to speak upon reading a publication by Vanguard Newspaper titled ‘N- Power: Beneficiaries Forum disowns protesters, pledges support for Sadiya Farouq’s launch of Batch- C’ and statement signed by a Secretary-General with an Igbo name, Godswill Ibekwe and I ask, ‘must an Igbo name be used whenever a national disaster is about to be created in Nigeria?’
My investigation reveals that the said group is non-existent rather than media propaganda to destabilise the All Progressive Congress as such peaceful agitation by the N-power beneficiaries when not controlled peacefully can escalate into a national disaster as we have the Militants in the Niger Delta and Boko Haram in the North.
I clearly read the placard carried by the peacefully agitating beneficiaries in Abuja and their demands were straight, either a permanent employment or a substantial exit package of N600,000 to move on with their lives. They are our youths and our children who have passed through the rough-roads of education in Nigeria and patiently served the Nation in volunteering services for at least two years. Don't they deserve what they are asking for? Even retirees have retirement benefits in public services.
The media propagandry strategies used by the said Ministry cannot suppress the passion of young men and women who agitated even in the rain as I clearly watched on the 23rd of July, 2020.
Moreover, the N-power program have been handled by prominent personalities like the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo, Mr Afolabi Imoukhuede (SSA to the President on Youth Employment), Mrs Marryam Uwais, SSA to the President on Social Investment and many others, and in no situation have we had the precarious situations the N-power beneficiaries have been subjected to since it's transfer to the new Ministry in October, 2019.
I remembered vividly that the social media went agog when these beneficiaries were owed for about 3 months, which invited the interest of the National Assembly querying the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in a video below:

The new Ministry has dubiously fought to take all the accolades deserved by these good spirited personalities who designed the N-power program, implemented it diligently with tireless efforts and instituted an unprecedented Employment and Empowerment strategy for the teeming graduate youths, at a time graduate unemployment has steered danger on the route of National progress and development.
My investigation reveals that these beneficiaries vehemently ensured the actualization of the 2019 General Election 4+4 All Progressive Congress agenda as they were promised permanent employment in this video https://youtu.be/BouUTJPLVZY

I therefore call on our dear President, the National Assembly and every well meaning Nigerians to join hands together to resolve this issue of the agitating graduate N-power beneficiaries, not mainly for the ruling party but for the interest of national peace and progressive national development.

N power volunteers will soon discuss with the National Chairman of People Democratic Party ( PDP) to hear from them if they have any plann for the beneficiaries come 2023.
ReplyDeleteEach of the 500 beneficiaries have a brother, a sister, Father and mother, uncle, aunty and friends. They have power to convince millions of people to support whoever they feel would support their vision
