Frank Edoho, a popular TV host and former presenter of the MTN Who wants to be a Millionaire, has bemoaned the lackadaisical attitudes of Nigerian youths towards Nigerian affairs especially on the issues of governance in the country.
According to Mr Edoho, the youths are not ready for a better Nigeria.
The presenter while reacting to a trending tweet which emphasizes that 'Nigerian youths are antagonists of themselves' stated that the youths in Nigeria are glued to frivolities and things which do not shape their future and care less about how their country is being ruled.
"Nigerian Youths are very passionate about Messi and Ronaldo, Wizkid and Davido, Laycon and Kiddwaya, Nigeria Jollof vs Ghana, IPhone vs Samsung and Dodo vs Boli. But when it's time to talk about increased taxation, no jobs, devaluation of Nigeria -defeaning silence. Una no ready."
A former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo had also in a statement energized the youths in Nigeria to take over power from the old people who have been rulling Nigeria, while emphasising that they are leaders of today and not to wait till tomorrow.
The reaction of well meaning Nigerians towards the inactiveness of youths to wake up to their plights and denials is traceably on the degrading situation of the country boarding on higher rate of graduate and youth unemployment to political alienation of youths on key matters and positions, and non-observance of the fact that youths are the leaders of today so as to shape their tomorrow, for them and for those coming through them.
Mr Edoho had pointed out lack of jobs which stands on the route of the largest percentage of Nigerian youths both graduates and non-graduate, the major stimulating factor for many social vices and unrest in the country.
