In a congratulatory messege signed by the All Progressive Congress State Chairman in Edo State, Anselm U. Ojezua Esq, he stated, " we join President Mohammedu Buhari and the National Caretaker Committee of our great Party to congratulate Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy Rt Hon. Philip Shaibu for their victory at the just concluded Governorship Election in Edo State."
"The Election has been generally acclaimed to be peaceful, orderly and transparent. The people of Edo State have made their choice in a very clear and unambiguous manner."
"Our loss at the poll stems from needless and avoidable crisis foisted on the party by a selfish, insensitive, arrogant and irresponsible leadership."
"While we begin to take steps to try and salvage the wellbeing of the our party in the State, we call on the Governor to be magnanimous in victory while we urge all those who contested to sheath their swords and put the election behind us. We must all and close ranks with the Government in order to ensure a seamless transition to the final lap of governance in the State without being subjected to any further needless distraction and rancour."
Disclosing the message to the public, APC for Continuity added, "there is the posibility that this can be overturned at the supreme court but the party secretariat is definitive in her Diagnosis that PDP won and Oshiomole plus Tinubu are the problem."
President Muhammadu Buhari had after the declaration of Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the election by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), congratulated him noting that his victory and conduct of the election show that democracy and free-and-fair are still in place in the country.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has mounted pressure on the APC candidate in the saturday Edo Guber Election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to accept his defeat by the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Godwin Obaseki.
