N-power NEXIT: Beneficiaries insist on National Protest, demand clarity of Exit Plan among others - Daily Info Update

Following the launch of the NEXIT Portal https://nexit-fmhds.cbn.gov.ng by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria in a bid to transit the exited N-power Beneficiaries into economic, empowerment and entrepreneurship opportunities presented by the apex bank, the 36 States And FCT N-power Representatives have insisted on a National Peaceful Protest to be held on Tuesday, 8th December, 2020.

The union of N-power Beneficiaries is demanding the following from the Federal Government cum the Humanitarian Ministry:

1. The 36 States and FCT N-Power Representatives request that they should be brought and shown the template of the purported Transition plan.

2. The Transition ( whether absorption into Government agencies or meaningful grants of 600,000 or above for entrepreneurship) must be ready and clearly defined.

3. Payments of over 14, 000 Unpaid Volunteers from the Month of March to July, 2020 must begin immediately as all documents needed for this have been supplied by the volunteers 2 months ago.

4. Payments of Backlogs to Volunteers being owed in different months must be paid immediately.

5. All Batch B devices and some batch A devices must be delivered immediately as this forms part of the agreement of engagement.
Nothing short of the above request will be accepted.

The NEXIT portal which presented a tinge of liveliveness to the exited N-power beneficiaries was stuck in a glitch as heavy traffic hampered progress, collapsing the portal.

This has created an atmosphere of doubt, resulting in reactions from the aggrieved beneficiaries, stating largely that it was a purported deceit by the Humanitarian Ministry to douse the tension of an earlier proposed protest.

An N-power Permanency Campaigner and Youth Activist, Justin Tsegba, had through a press statement titled "CLUELESS SADIYA FAROUQ AND DOCILE CENTRAL BANK'S GREEK GIFT TO EXITED N-POWER VOLUNTEERS: A CASE OF GRAND DECEPTION by Justin Tsegba " trolled the Humanitarian Minister and the Central Bank of Nigeria for their purported plan to decieve the N-power Beneficiaries with the NEXIT Plan.

The Humanitarian Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouk, had in her weekly update "My Week in Review", Sunday, stated that the NEXIT Plan which would enable exited N-power Beneficiaries specifically and directly benefit from CBN Empowernment opportunities, is dependent on the "criteria and conditions" set by the apex bank which would define the "suitability" of any N-power Beneficiaries in accessing the option.

This further confused the beneficiaries according to Daily Info Update investigation as the "Condition and Criteria were not disclosed.

Preposing the CBN "criteria and condition" for loan offers, Justin Tsegba stated:

" Traditionally, you are to have a registered business with the CAC and identify the growth stage is your business and how much credit you need to grow further? Will your SME qualify for CBN credit facility?

"If you have existing loan with Central Bank or NIRSAL you are not qualified for the N-EXIT

"Those that have benefitted from the covid 19 loan under HOUSEHOLD and not SME could possibly be considered. If the system is rejecting your bvn during registration it could mean you are either above 35years or under under other CBN loan as a beneficiary," he added.

Many N-power Beneficiaries are of the opinion that the CBN loan should be "an option" and not "a last option" as not all N-power Beneficiaries would want to embark on Business enterprises or take a loan adding that, they need more of Permanent employment or Exit package as a grant and not necessarily a Loan.

The Special Assistant, Media & Publicity to the Hon Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Nneka Ikem Anibueze had in a tweet encouraged the Batch A and B N-power Beneficiaries to exercise some patience while they fix the NEXIT portal but it seems that among other things, patience has ran out of the already angry and hungry  N-power beneficiaries prompting the declaration of the National Peaceful Protest.
