The Personal Assistant to President Mohammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad in a tweet made it known to the public yesterday while confirming that he has linked his NIN with his SIM Cards.
"I have just submitted my National Identity Number (NIN) to my network provider, MTN for verification. Good to see they have made the process easy, you don’t have to visit their office and do it physically, just visit https://mtnonline.com/nim/ to submit yours. Kindly RT for others."

1. Open https://mtnonline.com/nim/
2. Enter your First Name, Last Name and Middle Name
3. Enter the MTN Phone Number you want to link.
4. Enter your National Identity Number
"You can dial *346# to retrieve you NIN through the Phone Number used during NIN Registration.
Don't have NIN? You can do so conveniently by starting the process online here; http://nimc.gov.ng. Then visit a nearest enrollment centre to complete the registration. See the centres across Nigeria; https://www3.nimc.gov.ng/nimc-enrolment-centres/… ENROLLMENT IS FREE!", Bashir advised in a tweet.
5. Enter Email address and Submit.
6. An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to the Phone line. Enter the OTP in the Next page and Submit.
Note: the above processes is to be repeated if you have more than one MTN SIM Card
MTN however in a statement stated that this processes is solely for the purpose of collating NIN pending when verification of the submitted NIN is completed through NCC/NIMC adding that the status of the NIN submitted is unverified; which means that you might be required to visit again for verification/validation based on outcome of the verification exercise.
