Hope has heightened on the N30,000 Rapid Response Register (RRR) NASSCO COVID-19 Cash Transfer Programme as the Federal Government remains commited to effecting the payment to the beneficiaries.
Just yesterday, quite a number of the applicants confirmed to have recieved that NASSCO COVID-19 Alert of N30,000 being N5,000 for 6 Months per beneficiary of the programme.
The joy of the NASSCO COVID-19 Credit Alert filtered into the social Space with many of the beneficiaries expressing gratitude to the Federal Government for remembering them through the N30,000 Rapid Response Register (RRR) NASSCO COVID-19 Cash Transfer Programme.
Recall that the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk had disclosed that from June 2022, a set of two million beneficiaries would start recieving N5,000 basic cash transfer and additional N5,000 Conditional Cash Transfer to their Bank Accounts, which would amount to N20 billion to be splashed on the beneficiaries of the National Cash Transfer Programme.
Farouk noted that till date, out of one million beneficiaries targeted by the government in the Pilot phase of the Rapid Response Register, the Ministry has been able to pay the sum of N5000 to over 850,000 beneficiaries digitally through the Nigeria Inter-bank Settlement System, where each account is carefully validated by the system before payment.
Following the conclusion of the validation exercise of a new Batch of beneficiaries of the N30,000 Rapid Response Register (RRR) NASSCO COVID-19 Cash Transfer Programme, massive alerts is expected to hit the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
The National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) had clarified that the Federal Government is expanding the Rapid Response Register (RRR) to reach 5 million urban poor with cash transfers and #SafetyNets.
NASSCO stated that the programme is targeting more potential beneficiaries, adding that the Rapid Response Register project is not ending anytime soon.
The Rapid Response Register (RRR) for COVID-19 Cash Transfer, a World Bank supported National Social Safety Nets Project, is an intervention by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to identify and document the Urban and Semi-urban poor who have lost their income streams and consequently become poorer from the hash economic impact of COVID-19.
The Register is being built nationwide as an expansion of the existing National Social Safety Nets Project (NASSP) to target those in this category of non-traditional poor in urban and high density locations and/or slums where the COVID-19 Pandamic has affected economic life.
Individuals/Household captured under the COVID-19 Rapid Response Register are paid N5,000 for a period of 6 Months.
