UNICEF, in partnership with the National Population Commission (NPC) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration to enhance birth registration in Nigeria. The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) solidifies their commitment to streamline and support the digitalized birth registration process in 22 states and Abuja.
With the aim of implementing a comprehensive and efficient digitalized birth registration system across Nigeria, this strategic alliance provides a robust framework for the parties involved. Leveraging their existing resources and facilities, the NYSC, NPC, and UNICEF seek to register a minimum of 12 million eligible children under the age of 5 as primary beneficiaries.
Moreover, this collaboration will extend its benefits to families, parents, caregivers, communities, households, local government areas (LGAs), and ward level administrators as indirect beneficiaries.
The UNICEF, NYSC, and NPC Birth Registration partnership will also involve the issuance of birth certificates that provides the names and nationality of every child in Nigeria under the age of 5, in 21 States in 456 LGAs and 4,978 wards across the country.
To this end, applications are now open for the recruitment of adhoc staff for the 2023 NPC birth registration exercise through the NPC birth registration Portal https://birthregistrationadhoce-recruitment.com.
